MusikWoche
MusikWoche: reloaded and amplified.
MusikWoche publishing house reinvents itself.
Since the beginning of February, MusikWoche, Germany’s leading trade publication for the music industry for more than 30 years, has had a new entrepreneurial home and is repositioning itself for the future with an independently designed setup.
After several challenging years triggered by the insolvency of the Busch/Glatz holding company, MusikWoche has been successfully restructured at the beginning of this year. Berlin-based media entrepreneur and communications specialist Carsten Stricker (owner of renowned verstärker (=amplifier) PR), together with the management of MusikWoche, has founded a new company: MusikWoche Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG. As part of a management buyout and an investment by Stricker/verstärker, the publishing house has thus been given a viable and sustainable long-term perspective.
Carsten Stricker, Publisher & Managing Director:
“I have been a MusikWoche subscriber from day one and have followed very closely for more than 30 years what MusikWoche contributes to the industry. In recent years, I have been concerned about the conditions under which the dedicated team had to work. I am therefore all the more pleased that, together with the management and the lawyers involved, we have found a solution that secures Germany’s most important music industry publication for the long term. I am very much looking forward to working with and for MusikWoche. Our trade deserves a strong media committed to banging the drum for German music and the German music industry.”
Norbert Schiegl, Editor-in-Chief, MusikWoche:
“I have known Carsten Stricker for many years and am very happy to shape a stable and sustainable future for MusikWoche together with him and the entire team. Our aim is to continue developing MusikWoche in a contemporary way and to preserve it as the central information and dialogue platform for the industry. We look forward to new impulses from the music business and are fully committed to aligning our digital channels and the print magazine even more closely with the needs of our target audience. You are going to see a new MusikWoche which builds on the best of the past, but with a new contemporary urgency. Over the next weeks we will be reaching out to all key industry stakeholders to make this a win-win for the entire industry.”
MusikWoche is headquartered in Munich-Schwabing, with offices and correspondents in Berlin, Leipzig, North Rhine-Westphalia, and major European cities.
